Title: Lost Time
Lost Time
The narrative starts from the left with a single photograph, followed by a 3x3 grid and finally a single photograph at the end.
The first image conveys the start of the narrative when COVID-19 cases were first recorded in Michigan and things were still unknown. The photograph shows a self-portrait of the photographer alone.
The 3x3 grid is grouped together to a show a journey through the city during the first few months of COVID-19. The 3x3 grid is split into 3 rows, the top row showing the city during the morning, the middle shows the city during the day and the last row shows the city at night.
The last photograph is a contrast to the first photograph. In the first photograph there is one person seen alone while the last photograph shows two people walking together but still separated. The first photograph shows the start while the last photograph shows where we are currently, together but separated.
Background: This is a self portrait taken by the photographer within the first 2weeks after the first COVID-19 cases were recorded in Michigan. The photographer assumed that COVID-19 would be over by the 2nd week and wanted to take this picture, showing how little was know at the time.
This was taken with the camera propped up behind the freezer glass.
This was done to portray looking out of the freezer into a different world. This gives the viewer the feeling of looking from behind a glass into this new world of unknow.
